Story
1969
The roots of Jürgen Emptmeyer GmbH go back to the training days of our founder, Jürgen Emptmeyer. During his apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at the agricultural machinery manufacturer Diadem in Wittlage, a modern powder coating plant was just being put into operation there. During this time, the young apprentice was given a seemingly simple but crucial task: for just 3 pence per piece – instead of the usual 10 pence – he manufactured S-hooks using a hand-held device. What sounds like a minor detail turned out to be the first step on a path full of drive, efficiency and technical understanding – qualities that still shape our company's philosophy today.
1972
As early as 1972, it became apparent that the existing premises were no longer sufficient. The growing need for space led to the move to the Emptmeyer farm.
1987
Driven by entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to implement his own ideas, Jürgen Emptmeyer founded his own sole proprietorship shortly after completing his training. With a great deal of commitment, technical skill and a clear eye for practical solutions, he took the plunge into self-employment.
1990
With demand rising and the customer base growing, it quickly became clear that the young company needed its own premises. So, a small warehouse with an adjoining office was built on the Essenerberg in Bad Essen – a milestone in the company's development.
1993
As the company continued to grow, so too did its infrastructure and production capacity requirements. In order to meet these requirements and create sustainable structures, a modern new building was constructed at the current location in Bad Essen-Wittlage: a spacious production hall with an adjacent, functional office building.
1998
With a keen sense for customer needs and the requirements of industrial coating technology, Jürgen Emptmeyer GmbH has deliberately expanded its product range. In addition to its proven solutions, the company has increasingly focused on highly heat-resistant masking products.
2003
In order to accommodate the growing product range and increasing demands for efficiency and customisation, the existing production and storage facility underwent extensive expansion. This was accompanied by the establishment of an in-house prototyping department with an attached technical centre – a significant step towards customer-specific development work.
2007
As the company continued to grow, so did its logistical requirements. An additional warehouse was built to efficiently manage the increasing storage capacity and ensure a high level of delivery capability.
2012
Another milestone in the development of Jürgen Emptmeyer GmbH was the construction of a modern production hall, which not only provides additional manufacturing space but also sets an example for sustainable business practices. Equipped with a powerful photovoltaic system, the new hall actively contributes to reducing the carbon footprint while ensuring an independent, resource-saving energy supply.
2015
Katharina Emptmeyer's establishment of a branch office in Zurich not only expanded the company's geographical reach, but also sent an important signal for the future: the next generation's entry into the family business.
2017
With the construction of a modern high-bay warehouse, Jürgen Emptmeyer GmbH set another milestone in the professionalisation of its logistics processes.
2020
After decades of successful development and continuous growth, company founder Jürgen Emptmeyer handed over responsibility to the next generation. His daughter Katharina Brünnig, née Emptmeyer, officially joined the management team – firmly rooted in the corporate culture and with a clear vision for the future. She is supported by her husband Frank Brünnig, who took over operational management as the new managing director. Together, they continue to run the family business in its second generation.
2023
A modern order picking hall was built to cope with the increased shipping volume and growing demands for efficient order processing. Equipped with two truck loading ramps, the new building enables smooth loading and unloading processes as well as optimised shipping logistics procedures.
2025
With the acquisition of the former Fried Ellemund GmbH & Co. KG, Jürgen Emptmeyer GmbH expanded its range of services to include turning and milling technology. Under the new name Ellemund GmbH, the business continued to operate as an independent company. Thanks to the close cooperation between the two companies, customers benefit from an expanded range of services and optimised processes.
